There are outhouses in the parking lots, but no hand sanitizer. This is a decent amount of walking on dirt paths, but it still pretty easy. Dog's are allowed on leash, we saw many people with pets. There is a $3.00 (cash/check) charge per person, there is no way to make change and is all done on the honor system. This being said, I advise 10/10 do not take a car on this road any time of year, you can get there by going further up I-90 and taking 200, it is a much nicer road that cars can easily go on. If coming in off of I-90 using the I-90 frontage road please note, this slowly turns into a rough, windy long mountain drive that requires a 4x4, even then hold on to your seat! My favorite aspect was the superb job that’s been done in retelling the story with detailed historical information on who owned, who bought, or how a building had been used. A number of the original buildings had burned in a fire, but there’s plenty to see. The parking lot already had several cars, but there was no one else in the lot for RVs and trailers.Ī clear path lead down the slope to the remains of the town, once home to over 1000 people (and 13 saloons!). Well, 3 miles down the road the pavement ended, but recent rain had knocked down the dust so on we went towing our small camper. Why not? The road was paved, the day was mostly sunny if cool. On a trip to Montana in late September, we were driving along hwy 200 when we saw the sign for Garnet Ghost Town. ![]()
